Kovo

Start

Install Kovo

Download Kovo for your computer from Downloads and open it. On Windows the installer runs once; on macOS, drag Kovo to Applications.

The first time Kovo opens, it asks you to sign in. It opens occluze.com in your browser; sign in there and Kovo is ready. After that, Kovo updates itself.

Your first video

Type an address in the URL field and press Enter. The site opens on the canvas.

Scroll to where the video should start and press E: that's a marker, where the pointer is. Scroll on and add the next. Press Space to play it back, and Export to save it.

Markers

A marker is a stop. Kovo moves from one to the next, and each one remembers where the page was, how long it holds there and how it arrives.

Drag a marker to move it, or pick it and nudge it a pixel with Shift and the arrow keys. Open it to change its hold, its speed and its curve.

Moves and curves

The move into a marker can be faster or slower than the rest, and follow a curve: gentle, sharp, or one you paste in from After Effects, CSS or GSAP.

A slow move over a tall section makes it read as a reveal; a quick one between two screens feels like a cut.

Openers

Some sites play an intro before they let you scroll. Kovo waits for it, records it as the opener, and starts moving only when the page is ready.

Turn the opener off to start straight on the first marker.

Hiding things

Cookie banners, chat bubbles and pop-ups can be hidden: point at one and click. The count in the URL field shows how many are hidden; click it to show them again.

Hold Alt to use the site itself, to open a menu or accept a banner before you record.

Export

Sizes and scale

W and H set the size of the video. Device sizes are a click away. Export can render at 1x or 2x, up to 8K.

Marker files

Turn on Marker file in Export to save a small file next to the video with every marker's time, for editing the video later.

Umber

Umber

Get started

Umber draws a site's images, video and text on the graphics card, on one canvas, in line with the page as it scrolls, resizes and changes pages. It goes in with one script tag in Webflow or plain HTML, or from npm in Astro, Vite and Next.

It's still being made. These pages fill in as it's ready.

Images, video and text

Tag an image, a video or a heading, and Umber draws it on the graphics card. The real image, video and text stay in the page for search engines and screen readers, and show whenever WebGL can't run.

Effects

Umber ships no effects: you write yours in a few lines of shader code. Live scroll, pointer and progress values go straight in, so an effect can follow the page.

Page changes

Umber works next to Barba, Lenis, GSAP or any other router and controls none of them. It sees each page change itself, and an image can fly from one page to the next.
