How to record a Webflow site

Published

Webflow sites are made to move: scroll interactions, page loaders, smooth scrolling with Lenis, GSAP timelines, pinned sections. A screen recording flattens all of that into stutter. Kovo records the scroll itself, frame by frame, so every interaction plays as it does in the browser, at an even pace. Here is how to record a Webflow site, live or still on staging.

Open the published site or its staging address

Type the address in Kovo's URL field: the live domain, or the site's webflow.io staging address while it's still in progress. If the staging site has a password, hold Alt, type it into the site and continue: the export sees the site as you left it.

Keep the page loader

Many Webflow sites open with a loader or an intro animation. Switch on the Opener, just above the top of the page, and the video starts from the first frame of it, then moves on to your first marker.

Hide the badge and the banners

Cookie banners, including Finsweet's cookie consent, are hidden for you. On a site without a paid plan, hide the Made in Webflow badge: hold Alt+Shift, point at it and click. Hidden things stay hidden on every page of the video.

Place the markers around the interactions

Add a marker before and after each scroll interaction, and hold where an animation needs time to play out. Smooth scrolling with Lenis, GSAP ScrollTrigger scenes and pinned sections play as the video moves through them.

Follow the site to its other pages

Hold Alt and click a link in the nav to go to another page, then add markers there. When the video plays it clicks the same link, so your page transitions, like Barba, are in the video too.

Export

Export at Full HD and 2x for a 4K case study video, or at the Story size and 3x for a vertical video with the site's mobile layout.

Questions

Can I record a Webflow site that uses Lenis?

Yes. Kovo records sites with Lenis and Locomotive smooth scrolling, sticky and pinned sections, and canvas and WebGL pages.

Will Webflow interactions and GSAP animations show in the video?

Yes. Kovo records the page as it scrolls, frame by frame, so scroll-triggered interactions and animations play just as they do in the browser.

Can I remove the Made in Webflow badge from a recording?

Yes. Hold Alt+Shift, point at the badge and click to hide it. It stays hidden in the whole video.

Can I record a Webflow staging site?

Yes. Use its webflow.io address. If it's password protected, hold Alt and enter the password in the site first.

Can I record the mobile version of a Webflow site?

Yes. Pick iPhone, Pixel or the Story size and the site opens as a phone, at your Webflow mobile breakpoint.

Does Kovo work with Barba page transitions?

Yes. When the video goes to another page, it follows the link you clicked, so the site's own transition plays.
